Elsie Louise Simmons

	Elsie Louise Simmons 75 of De Soto, IL formerly of Du Quoin, IL, passed away at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 19, 2001 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
	Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker and was a Baptist. Mrs. Simmons had lived in De Soto for the past 20 years where she and her husband James were caretakers of the DeSoto Park.
	She was a giving and loving person whose goal in life was making her children and grandchildren happy.
	She was born March 23, 1925 at Du Quoin, IL the daughter of Joe and Elsie (Rice) Manis.
	She married Faye A. (Spud) Fitzpatrick in 1951 he passed away in 1955. She married James E. Simmons in 1958 he passed away in 1998.
	She is survived by three daughters- Donna Reynolds of Du Quoin, Judi (David) Kling of Vergennes, IL, Lynne (R.D.) Daugherty of Ramsey, IL, son- Steve (Becky) Simmons of De Soto, IL, stepson- James R. Simmons of De Soto, IL,step daughter- Tanya J. Simmons of Herrin, IL, two brothers- James D. (Audrey) Manis of Du Quoin, IL, Otto (Jane) Manis of Dyer, IN, two sisters- Irene (Oscar) Ernst of Canton, IL, Wilma Brock of Du Quoin, IL, grandchildren- Christian Litton of Kansas City, KS, Amy (Crane) Grant of Memphis, TN, Brad Crane of De Soto, IL, Caley Simmons of Carbondale, IL, Tarryn Simmons of De Soto, IL, Tyler Simmons of De Soto, IL, Sharon Haege of Winston-Salem, NC, Jason Reynolds of Elko, NV, six great grandchildren, dear friends- Tom and Betty Jennings of De Soto, IL.
	She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers - Leonard, Robert and Leroy Manis and sister - Betty Manis.
	Funeral services were at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 23, 2001 at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin with Rev. Chris Hettensen officiating.
	Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday and from 7 A.M. until time of service Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
	Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
	Friends may make memorials to the St. Judes Childrens Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
